Who is this course designed for?

If you're motivated to write your best possible college essay, Playing Field is for you. We know that one-on-one coaching isn't accessible for everyone, (and as much as we'd love to, we don't have the bandwidth to work with every student), so we've worked tirelessly to gather all our expertise into one place for you!

How long does the course take?

The total runtime of the course videos is 70 minutes. However, the course is not designed to be completed in one sitting — we recommend you take it step-by-step and put time into making your essay shine.

I haven't cured cancer or started a nonprofit. Can I still write a good essay?

This might be our most important message: you don't have to be a rocket scientist or award-winning novelist to write an amazing college essay. The best essays come from authentic reflection on everyday experiences — we'll show you how to find the extraordinary in your "ordinary" life!

Do you review individual essays?

We take on a very limited number one of-on-one students each year, where we offer full-service guidance at an hourly rate.


Our Pro Course offers two rounds of individualized edits, each with a 3-4 day turnaround guarantee, at a more accessible price!


NOTE: We cannot guarantee that essays submitted after 10/28 will be ready for a 11/1 Early Action/Decision deadline.

How is this different from free advice on YouTube or college websites?

Free resources give you general tips. We give you an hour long, step-by-step system based on years of working inside an Ivy League admissions office and coaching high-end private clients.

Will this help me with supplemental essays, too?

Absolutely. While our course focuses on the Common App personal statement, the storytelling and writing principles we teach apply to all your college essays. You'll finish feeling confident about your entire application.

Can I update my membership plan once I've purchased?

How do I access my account?

To access your account, click Sign In at the top right of the page and enter your email address. You can enter your password, or request a sign-in link to be sent to your email address.

How do I reset my password?

On the Sign In page, click Sign in With Password. Then click Set New Password, enter the email associated with your account, and click Send Instructions. The instruction email will arrive in your inbox shortly. In the email, click Reset Password, and you will be directed to select a new password before being redirected to the catalog page. If you have trouble remembering your password, you can also use our Passwordless Sign-In option by requesting a Sign-In Link on the login page.

Can I download videos to save them to my device?

Our content is available for streaming only and cannot be downloaded directly to a device.

Why am I experiencing buffering or playback issues?

Buffering or playback issues are often related to the internet connection. We recommend a minimum speed of 25 Mbps for smooth streaming. You can also try refreshing the page, using a different browser, or clearing your cache.

Can I create multiple accounts with the same email address?

No, each email address can only be associated with one account. If you believe you already have an account and can’t remember your login details, please use the Forgot Password link.
